1. Myth- Running is bad for your knees
Truth- Studies show that the knees in runners are no less healthy than non runners. However, women are more likely suffer knee injuries due to an imbalance in strength ratio. A great way to support your knees is to strengthen the muscles around them with total body strength workouts. Try some of our workouts to build up YOUR strength.
2. Myth- Crunches are the key to a flat stomach
Truth- Crunches are not the best way to slim down your mid section. While they do tone up a small section of your abs it is far more effective to do exercises that engage your entire core!
3. Myth- You need to work out for at least 45 minutes for it to have any effect
Truth- A 10 minute HIIT (High Impact Interval Training) is much better for fat burning and your body keeps burning fat for up to 24 hours afterwards.
4. Myth-The longer you work out the better
Truth- Shorter High Intensity 115 minute workouts are proven to be more efficient at burning fat than longer duration lower intensity workouts.
5.Myth- Will weight lifting make me look bulky
Truth- Women typically have less muscle tissue and produce lower levels of testosterone than men so even if you are lifting heavy weights you are not likely to build bulk.
6. Myth- A protein bar is a good substitute for a meal
Truth- Protein bars are highly processed and do not provide the nutrients your body needs. So if you are stuck for time at lunch try some of our #KSFL easy lunch recipes for a clean and healthy lunch!
7. Myth- Calcium only comes from Dairy
Truth- You can get calcium from all kinds of sources including broccoli and sesame seeds. Try one of our GREEN juices packed with spinach that will give you plenty of calcium.
8. Myth- The only way to lose weight is to cut out all carbs
Truth- An effective way to lose weight is adopting a diet that can become a way of life and not a crash diet. Cutting out all carbs like pasta, bread, white potatoes etc is definitely for the best but keep in all of your veggie carbs.will support you all the way!
9. Myth- A hot bath will prevent muscle soreness
Truth- A cold bath is better! The colder temperature will constrict blood vessels instead of dilating them
limiting the amount of waste product that accumulates. Cold exposure also helps fat burning.
10. Myth- breakfast is the most important meal of the day
Truth- Don’t force yourself to eat if you are not hungry … if you get hungry later in the day that’s no problem just pick up a healthy smoothie like this yummy #KSFL recipe
